Greek For a Week!
If you thought for a moment that our appetite could be contained by the lowcountry, you were sorely mistaken! Callie and I are big on travel, even if we don't get to run off as much as we'd like. Experiencing new cultures is extremely important to us, and of course food is one excellent way to do that. Check back here for a little taste of something different and some shared adventure!
Our last big trip together brought us to the Greek Isles! We ate our way through Athens and Santorini, stopping roughly every hour to chow down. The Mediterranean diet makes staying there forever worth considering. In our experience, ingredients were fresh, portions were huge, and everything was delicious. For the most part, the people were very welcoming and friendly, ready to share their personal favorite items on the menu. Some highlights that we were introduced to include moussaka and grilled octopus. A tour guide at a winery pointed us to a dank little restaurant on the water where the owner and chef caught all his own fish daily. This is where I got a chance to inhale some of that grilled octopus and chase it with some ouzo, a licorice flavored apéritif... Maybe not the best combo in the world but damned if I didn't enjoy it all the same.
Callie and I could go on for days talking about the food and wild times we had in Greece, but we're going to save that for the next big trip. Keep your eyes peeled and your food safe... The Partners in Dine might just be coming to a city near you!
