Wine + Dine!

The 13th Annual Charleston Wine + Food Festival was certainly one for the books. This year, the Partners in Dine infiltrated the Culinary Village to extract priceless experience worthy of sharing with the masses! Through brilliant calculation and cunning execution, we were able to score a pair of tickets to the distinguished affair. Rather than regurgitating hazy reviews of each and every savory station, we're delivering our updated blueprints for how best to enjoy next year's festival. Take heed, these steps just might be the difference in a successful trip to Wine + Food CHS!

THE S#!T THEY SHOULDA TOLD YOU

NO. 1: BRING YOUR PACK

You'll find lots of collectibles at the festival, and you're gonna want to keep them all. From wine glasses to t-shirts, stickers and even left-overs, you don't have enough hands. There are usually some free bags being distributed inside the village. Should you have trouble acquiring one however, we have another solution... Find yourself a secluded little area outside the busy sets and bury your treasure! It's a risk but it actually worked for us. Wrap your glasses in a t-shirt and stash it, just be sure to remember where!

NO. 2: DRESS THE PART

The dirt roads that lead you to each shop in the village do not agree with your open toed shoes. Make sure you're comfortable, but don't wear sandals. Other than that, use your best judgement! Guests at the village aren't exactly dressed to the nines, but it's not a jeans and t-shirt kind of event. Remember Charleston Fashion week is right around the corner, so tidy yourself up.

NO. 3: PREP YOUR PAUNCH

The village has an ebb and flow, and you'll learn quick that food lines move much slower than those for drinks. Even though there's a TON of good eats to consume, we recommend a big breakfast before you go. If only to help soak up the copious amounts of libations you'll inevitably ingest. On that same note, remember to HYDRATE! Water can be found in buckets throughout the village, so grab a few bottles and throw 'em in your pack to drink between the booze.

NO. 4: CHECK THE SPREAD

Do your research and read the map before you go. It's tough to experience everything at the village but it's not impossible. Take note of where your favorite tents are going to be, and don't forget to highlight the location of bathrooms! Plan a route that includes pit stops for the most efficient experience. We recommend getting there as early as you can, filling up your wine glass and hopping right in line for some food.

NO. 5: GAB IT UP

Our favorite part about the Culinary Village is the opportunity to meet gifted and passionate members of our local culinary scene and beyond! Don't be shy, take the time to talk to as many hosts as you can. Everyone is super friendly and excited to talk about their product, and you might even meet some of your own local heroes. Stay curious and have fun, there's always something new to learn with each Charleston Wine + Food Festival.
